Description

Aerangis ellisii

We imported these from Madagascar many years ago as Aerangis platyphylla; which is accurately called Aerangis ellisii. We began growing them in wooden baskets which they quickly outgrew, and formed a BEAUTIFUL wall of vegetation. This is one of the larger growing Aerangis (still smallish by orchid standards). It can be grown on the cool side (cool intermediate is the term I’ve read) whereas most Aerangis need it much warmer to thrive. Ours grow and bloom in a range of 58F for a low and 96F as a high. It produces a long inflorescence lined with “birds in flight” flowers with long arching nectaries. These are NOT miniatures. It’s one more beautiful Aerangis to add to your orchid collection.

The bareroot cutting (of our plant from Madagascar) shown in Brenda’s hand is representative of what you’ll receive.
