Schoenorchis fragrans

A true MINIATURE in the orchid world. Our introduction to this plant was by an older gentleman wearing it as a lapel pin on his suit at an orchid show. It was a mature plant in full splendorous bloom; and less than the size of a quarter!!! Though named for its fragrance, the flowers are so small that it’s most certainly NOT overpowering! When I put my nose right into a cluster of flowers, my reaction is “grape Koolaid”. No orchid grower can use the excuse that they’re out of space for this one.
