Description

Neofinetia falcata Known as fuuran (wind orchid), or the Samurai’s Orchid, Neofinetia falcata [now technically Vanda falcata] has been grown for centuries; beginning in the Edo era. Every orchid grower should have at least one. For starters, they are beautiful AND nicely fragrant. There is a seemingly limitless variety of leaf colors and shapes, as well as flower colors and forms. The more minute distinguishing details are amazing; the stem color (Jiko), the connections between the stem and leaf (Tsuke) and the root-tip color (Ne). It’s fascinating and a bit overwhelming. Neofinetias are quite easy to grow under intermediate conditions and can be grown in a variety of potting mixes or on plaques. Neofinetias are not our area of expertise, but we love them and have been growing them successfully for several decades and have divisions for sale.
