This great orchid is found in Minas Gerias (Brazil) at elevations around 1000 to 1800 meters. It’s one of the rupicolous laelias (even though it’s not called a Laelia any longer). It’s gone by MANY names in the past… Bletia caulescens, caulescens and crispilabia; Hoffmannseggella caulescens and crispilabia; Laelia caulescens, cinnabarina var. crispilabia, crispilabia, mantiqueirae and Sophronitis caulescens. Whatever you call it, it’s a reliable bloomer!
