This plant has been known by many other names, including Maxillaria, Marsupiaria and Camaridium. It is native to Venezuela, Suriname, Guyana, Bolivia, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador. We purchased it years ago strictly for its unique foliage. It has pretty blossoms too, albeit smallish for the size of the plant. We grow and bloom it well in moderate light (like a Phalaenopsis would like) and don’t let it get below 58F at night. We had it in a cooler spot for a while and it let us know that it didn’t like it!
