Description
Vanda ampullacea ‘Barbara’
(still labeled Ascocentrum ampullaceum ‘Barbara’ in our greenhouse)
Ascocentrum contained 20+ species, most of which have been transferred/renamed vandas. We’ve grown several of them, and ampullaceum (ampullacea) has been the most reliable bloomer of the ones we’ve grown. There are different color varieties (white, orange, pink). We have white (‘Thai Snow’) and pink (‘Barbara’) available now. They are one of the smallest species in the [former] genus Ascocentrum and even “large” multi-growth plants aren’t really all that large. We grow ours in intermediate to warm conditions in bright light (just a little less than the cattleyas and vandas) and they do well for us. What a floriferous show they provide!
We’re selling large seedlings in 2″ pots.
