Description
Schoenorchis phitamii
Schoenorchis phitamii is a relatively recently described species endemic to Vietnam. In vegetative growth, it appears very similar to Schoenorchis fragrans and Schoenorchis seidenfadenii, making it difficult to distinguish when not in bloom.
Once flowering, however, the differences become more apparent. Our plants have been producing remarkably floriferous inflorescences, with each spike densely packed with flowers. The abundant blooms create an impressive display on such a compact plant. The flowers are bright pink and white, similar to those of Schoenorchis fragrans and S. seidenfadenii, but feature a distinctive greenish-yellow throat.
We grow Schoenorchis phitamii alongside several other species in the genus under warm temperatures and intermediate light conditions, where it has proven to be an easy and rewarding grower.
Its miniature size, heavy flowering habit, and status as a Vietnamese endemic make Schoenorchis phitamii an appealing species for collectors of miniature orchids and unusual vandaceous orchids.
We are selling blooming-size plants mounted on cork.
