Paphiopedilum barbatum - burgandy and white flowers on plants with mottled leaves

 Paphiopedilum barbatum
These are native to Malaysia. They are compact plants with heavily mottled leaves that are easy to grow and bloom. Their beautiful foliage makes them pretty to have around even when they’re out of bloom. The flowers are rich looking with a dark wine pouch and striped dorsal sepal and are very long lasting.

Shown is Paphiopedilum barbatum ‘Mem. Stephen Oviatt’ - a particularly nice specimen from Terry Root at the Orchid Zone that we’ve used for breeding.
