{photo}Chiloschista segawae - the flowers are lime-green colored!

 Chiloschista segawae
Chiloschistas are a favorite of ours. This one is native to Taiwan; segawae is sometimes also spelled segawai (we go by the KEW spelling). Chiloschistas are perhaps the hardiest and most free blooming leafless orchid there are. Though “leafless” they do occasionally sport a tiny leaf. The “tangle” of roots produce arching flower spikes covered with 1/2" flowers. This is one of the more unusual plants you can have grace your orchid collection. We sent one of these to Selby Gardens this spring and it was verified as being Chiloschista segawae (and got an official OIC number) so you can be quite certain you’re actually getting what you paid for.
