Miltonia
phymatochila Easter Cloud
Oncidium phymatochilum...I
mean Miltonia phymatochila...er, nope, I mean Phymatochilum brasiliense...or
rather...
This was, for many years, called Oncidium phymatochilum (since 1848).
Im still stumbling over the new name of Miltonia phymatochila
given it in 2001 when its genetics were reviewed. It just
doesnt seem like a miltonia to me. I rather like the proposed name
(rejected by Kew) of Phymatochilum brasiliense - which puts it in a spot
of its own. Whatever you decide to call it, grow it in warm, rather bright
conditions and youll be rewarded by a profusion of whispy white,
yellow and brown flowers. Easter Cloud is an appropriate name
to describe them. They have a light, sweet fragrance. Beautiful plants;
native to Brazil.
