Also known
as Cochleanthes discolor, this neat little Central American species grows
in the shade (for examplebeneath other orchids!). It bears showy,
fragrant, long-lasting flowers on short spikes. There is some variation
in flower color between different plants. This one has a rich purple lip
and creamy-colored sepalsa division of the one in the photo.
