Tillandsia ixioides has bright yellow flowers with dry looking bracts.

 Tillandsia ixioides
Native to Bolivia, these produce an interesting inflorescence. It begins forming and then it looks as if it has dried and won’t produce flowers. Right when you’re sure something’s gone wrong, beautiful yellow flowers form; surrounded by those “dry” bracts. They’re really neat! It is a stiff (rather brittle) leaved plant with a light silvery coating. Ours bloom faithfully from January to March each year.
